Los Chiludos - Holmes Beach, FL

Tucked away in a modest strip mall in Holmes Beach, FL, Los Chiludos has become one of our go-to spots. Originally opened in Pittsburgh, Los Chiludos relocated to Holmes Beach in 2022 after the owners fell in love with the area after seven years of vacations. Like any good taco spot, word slowly got out and someone who knew our obsession for tacos recommended we try it out…and we’ve been back many, many times.

Los Chiludos is still family-owned and operated, offering a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that feels like home. With limited indoor seating and a bit of outdoor space, the vibe is intimate. A large mural pays tribute to their Pittsburgh roots. Along the counter and shelves you’ll see their absolutely massive bags of fresh-fried chips, and you’ll always be greeted by a friendly face.

When you visit, always be sure to check the board over the register for specials if you’re looking for something different, you might just find something you’ll fall in love with. And aside from the normal taco options, they will occasionally have special options, ranging from chorizo or brisket, or even more adventurous options like octopus.

The massive mural is very colorful and pays homage to their Pittsburgh roots.

The chips are fresh-fried, and like leftover pizza, they're excellent for days to come, and you'll surely have leftovers with how many chips you get in each bag.

The tacos at Los Chiludos are what I’d call “elevated authentic.” While they offer the usual taco varieties, every ingredient is fresh and top-notch—something they take great pride in. Though their tortillas aren’t made in-house, the owner made it clear they were meticulous in sourcing the best available, and it shows in every bite. Beyond their commitment to quality, Los Chiludos ensures everyone can find something to enjoy, offering customization and substitutes to meet any dietary needs.

Crunching the Numbers:
The Tacothority Scorecard

Our taco rating system runs from 0 to 10, where 5 is perfectly average, and 10 is pure taco nirvana. A 0 is the dreaded "Sad Taco"—so bad you’d prefer last week's leftovers. A 5 is a neutral, forgettable taco, while anything above that ranges from decent (6-7) to almost perfect (8-9). A 10 is the ultimate taco experience—flawless in every way.

Los Chiludos Three Amigos - Pastor, Chicken, Steak

The Three Amigos

As you can see from the pictures, you’ll find that each of their tacos is completely stuffed. For the price, these tacos are a steal.

Steak - 7.7

The steak is a solid choice, even for the pickiest of eaters, and probably one of the better ones that we’ve had. Grilled with a nice char, the steak makes for a tender bite with great flavor. Add their hot sauce, and you’ve got something delicious.

Chicken - 7.0

The chicken taco at Los Chiludos is a shredded chicken tinga variety. Similar to the steak, you’ll see that they use simple ingredients. Protein, onion, cilantro, salsa. Simple but satisfying. If we were going to get picky, it’s a bit more liquid (which we definitely prefer over a dried out one!). Similar to what we had at Los Chapos, we prefer this chicken taco a bit more.

Pastor 7.3

The pastor taco is filled with huge, tender pieces of pork with a nice char and great flavor. The savory bite is balanced by the sweet chunks of pineapple, and again the hot sauce packs a flavorful punch.

Los Chiludos - Shrimp Taco

The Wildcard

Going beyond the usual lineup, The Wildcard is the taco that stands out—whether it’s the restaurant’s go-to recommendation or just one that caught my eye. It’s the bonus option that brings something different to the plate.

Blackened Shrimp - 8.3

I’ve never had a bad taco at Los Chiludos, but their shrimp taco is a repeat favorite. With simple ingredients that pack a punch, it’s loaded with large, savory shrimp, perfectly blackened for a burst of flavor. The crunch of fresh red cabbage and the creamy and somehow sweet kick from the chipotle aioli bring everything together, creating a taco that’s balanced, flavorful, and always satisfying.

Los Chiludos - Chips & Queso

Notable Mention

The Chips & Queso

If you’re a fan of chips and queso, you’re in for a treat! (And if you’re not, seriously, what are you doing here?!) When you order chips and queso at Los Chiludos, you get a massive bag of fresh-fried chips that are absolutely fantastic. With a perfect crunch and just the right amount of salt, they’re seriously addictive. Paired with their warm, homemade queso, this combo is dangerous enough to ruin your appetite.

Once you start, stopping is nearly impossible, though the sheer amount of chips might slow you down. And if you can’t finish them all, no worries—they’re just as good the next day... or the day after. It’s a lot of chips!

Los Chiludos - Birria Tacos

(Another) Notable Mention

The Birria Tacos

I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t just say how good the birria tacos are! Stuffed full of tender, savory meat and gooey cheese, these heavy bites are both filling and delicious. I was fortunate enough to get a small bite of my wife’s order, and a bite like that really makes you question yourself for not ordering birria tacos more.

A Final Word

Food aside, what really makes Los Chiludos special to us, is the family behind it. Even on our first visit two years ago, I was fortunate enough to have a great chat with one of the owners, and the passion for great food and maybe greater service really showed, and it’s been that way ever since. Whether it’s one of the owners, or one of the sons, they’re always a pleasure and they treat us like family. I can’t tell you how many times it’s taken ~30 minutes to eat a couple of tacos simply because they were taking the time to have great conversations about our love for tacos. We came for the food, but we stayed for the service, and we’ll keep coming back!
